Bloomsburg Softball Sweeps Millersville

MILLERSVILLE-- Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) went a combined 5 for 6 to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to a sweep of Millersville on Saturday by scores of 7-2 and 10-0 in five innings.

In the opener, Mauro went 3-4, scored two runs while knocking in another and Nikki Shiko (Kulpmont/Southern Columbia) went 4-4 and drove in three runs to lead Bloomsburg to the win. The Huskies got all the runs they would need in the third inning when it scored four times with Natalie Zimmerman (State College/State College) driving in two with a double.

Bloomsburg added three runs in the sixth with Shiko knocking in two with a double and Mauro adding an RBI single. but Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) picked up her 20th win of the season striking out eight.

In the nightcap the Huskies banged out 12 hits and Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) allowed just one hit in the Huskies win. Bloomsburg led 1-0 in the third inning when the Huskies scored four times with Mandy Koch (Dauphin/Central Dauphin) getting the big hit, a two-run double to make a 5-0 game. In the fifth, the Huskies put the game out of reach by scoring five times. Kayleen Sidisky (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) and Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) both had two-run doubles in the inning.

Bloomsburg finishes the regular season with a mark of 44-7, 19-5 in the PSAC East.
